Firewood
For the best sauna experience, we use dense, non-resinous hardwoods like oak, maple, ash, and birch, as they provide steady, long-lasting, and intense heat with minimal smoke and sparks.
We avoid all softwoods, such pine and spruce, that create more creosote and soot. These are resinous and ignite quickly, but produce more smoke, sparks, and creosote buildup, making them less safe and efficient for consistent heating.
You can expect your firewood from us to be a mixture of various hardwoods, native to the Western New York area.

Oak: The densest, most common hardwood on the market.
Birch: Offers some of the highest heat and longest burn times across all available firewood in the United States.
Maple: Excels at limiting smoke and creosote, so it’s perfect for those most sensitive to the smells of firewood and smoke.
Ash: Easiest hardwood to get, as it’s readily available from vendors all over the country.
Cherry: Provides a pleasing fruity aroma when it burns, adding aromatherapy to your sauna session.
Hickory: Long-lasting flames that burn very clean.
Seasoning is Key
We always use well seasoned wood, with low moisture content (under 20%) for an efficient, clean burn. When possible, it's wise to start with a fast-burning wood like birch to get the stones hot, then add Oak or Maple to maintain heat
